Law enforcement agencies across the nation put a great deal of time and resources into disrupting drug activity. Being the subject of such an investigation can be intimidating at best, and for those who are accused of drug crimes, seeking guidance in the initial stages could be crucial. Two sisters have recently been arrested for drug charges under similar circumstances in Georgia.

According to police, the investigation began with a routine traffic stop involving one of the sisters. After approaching the vehicle and speaking with the driver, officers claim they received consent to perform a search, which allegedly uncovered an ounce and a half of methamphetamine. One woman was taken into custody soon thereafter and is currently facing drug charges.

Following this incident, local authorities initiated a two-month investigation that reportedly culminated in the arrest of the other sister. Although the details of her arrest are unclear, they claim she was in possession of up to four ounces of methamphetamine. Both sisters stand accused of trafficking methamphetamine and, if convicted, could face serious consequences that may have substantial impact on their future.

Facing drug charges of this nature can be a stressful and daunting process, and those accused of similar crimes may find it advisable to seek counsel as soon as possible after the charges are filed. By speaking with a defense attorney, a client in Georgia could obtain advice on making informed decisions throughout the process. An attorney can work toward protecting a client’s rights throughout the process and, if a conviction cannot be avoided, assist in pursuing a lesser sentence during legal proceedings.
