“Hired Matt Hirsch at a distance to take on a traffic case with a missed mandatory court appearance (or two). Even as the case dragged on longer than anticipated (not the fault in any way of the lawyer), and indeed went a couple rounds, Mr. Hirsch remained engaged, positive, and proactive. I firmly believe he and his firm resolved my case with the best outcome for me. Would recommend Cohen & Hirsch for cases of my type without reservation, and his working for me at a fairly great distance, without my ever appearing back in state, deserves particular note”

“Matt was great. The day I called him he jumped right in and a week later charges were dropped! He’s my guy here on out. Not to mention he saved me 3k from the first firm I called.”

“Matt was a great treasure! Always kept calm and let me be the same. Looking at his fb feed, I was convinced he’s the right person for me. Helped get through a difficult situation. His fees were also comparable to the others given the amount of personal attention he paid to the case. Never had the trouble of dealing with the paralegals(as we all know what happens). He was always available on text. Great experience!!”

Awareness month finds family violence up in areas

On Behalf of | Oct 9, 2013 | Domestic Violence |

Domestic violence is a serious concern for communities throughout the country. During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, purple ribbons are hung throughout areas in Georgia. In one area just a couple of hours from Atlanta, officials have reported that they are fighting a growing problem of domestic abuse. An office that works with victims has reported an increase in domestic violence incidents and says that the economic downturn may have exacerbated stresses and tensions in some households. One report notes that people are not only harmed by domestic violence every day, but people can also be killed in a domestic violence situation.

Family violence and domestic abuse can include physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse or economic abuse. Serious consequences can result from domestic violence allegations and domestic violence charges. Those facing domestic violence accusations can suffer a damaged reputation.

In addition, those who have a domestic violence conviction can face serious penalties. Having a criminal record for domestic violence charges can impact a person’s future gun ownership rights and employment possibilities. Those convicted of felony domestic violence criminal charges can also face severe penalties through the criminal justice process, including five to 20 years in prison, depending on the nature of the charges.

Because of the high stakes involved with domestic violence accusations and domestic violence charges, it is important for any party facing such charges to have a capable defense strategy. This can help an accused party develop an approach that will ensure the best possible outcome, whether that is a dismissal of charges or a plea to lesser charges.
