“Hired Matt Hirsch at a distance to take on a traffic case with a missed mandatory court appearance (or two). Even as the case dragged on longer than anticipated (not the fault in any way of the lawyer), and indeed went a couple rounds, Mr. Hirsch remained engaged, positive, and proactive. I firmly believe he and his firm resolved my case with the best outcome for me. Would recommend Cohen & Hirsch for cases of my type without reservation, and his working for me at a fairly great distance, without my ever appearing back in state, deserves particular note”

“Matt was great. The day I called him he jumped right in and a week later charges were dropped! He’s my guy here on out. Not to mention he saved me 3k from the first firm I called.”

“Matt was a great treasure! Always kept calm and let me be the same. Looking at his fb feed, I was convinced he’s the right person for me. Helped get through a difficult situation. His fees were also comparable to the others given the amount of personal attention he paid to the case. Never had the trouble of dealing with the paralegals(as we all know what happens). He was always available on text. Great experience!!”

Two Georgia residents face drug and weapons charges

On Behalf of | Oct 17, 2013 | Drug Charges |

Two people face several state felony charges after drugs and firearms were found in open view in a rural Newton County residence, according to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

After warrants were issued in several Georgia counties — including DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties — an NCSO Special Investigation Unit and deputies from the U.S. Marshall’s Service entered the residence of a 24-year-old convicted felon and saw marijuana and firearms.

The man was then taken into custody and the agents backed out of the house in order to get a search warrant. When they reentered with a search warrant, agents collected seven pounds of marijuana, several bags of cocaine and several loaded weapons. The man is charged with two felony drug counts and two firearm possession counts.

A 24-year-old woman who also lived in the house but was not present at the time of the search was arrested later and charged with two counts of cocaine possession on the assumption that she knew both the drugs and weapons were in her home.

Drug possession has serious consequences for Georgia residents. Possession of even a single gram can lead to a prison sentence, which is why anyone facing drug charges needs a strong defense to get the charges reduced or dropped.

Being charged with drug-related crimes not only damages a person’s reputation but also impacts many aspects of his or her life. And sometimes defendants, such as the woman in this case, may not be necessarily be criminal accomplices or perpetrators but simply victims of circumstance.

Any Georgian facing similar charges should remember that he or she has rights that are protected by both state and federal constitutions, including the right to be represented by an attorney. Legal guidance can create a strong defense through scrutinizing evidence, warrants, witness accounts and other critical information used by prosecutors.
