Georgia man allegedly violates parole, faces drug charges

A Georgia man was recently arrested for several drug charges, including alleged possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia and a stolen hand gun. The man, who is reportedly a paroled drug dealer, is said to have compromised his parole.

The Board of Pardons, together with the Northeast Georgia Regional Drug Task Force, coordinated to search the home of the 32-year-old man. The search allegedly yielded cocaine, a stolen gun and drug paraphernalia. The man, who was just paroled last September, is set to face numerous charges, including a parole violation. The 32-year-old man reportedly has a history of run-ins with the law dating back to 1999.

Convictions for drug offenses have the potential for costly fines and lengthy prison sentences. The consequences are further complicated when a person is on parole for previous violations. Oftentimes, even mere allegations can cause serious damage to a person's personal and family reputation. Current employment as well as future employment opportunities may also be compromised.

To avoid such severe consequences, DeKalb County residents should be aware of their rights. A resident facing criminal allegations should take into consideration their constitutional rights. Doing so can help in preparing an aggressive defense that can scrutinize a search warrant, evidence and witness statements. This type of approach can also help in recognizing any errors made during the arrest procedure and investigation, which can prove vital to the case. Whether previously convicted of another crime or not, a resident has the right to challenge criminal charges on constitutional grounds.
