After criminal charges filed, sheriff asserts commitment to job

A local sheriff was arrested following what he claims was simply a tragic and unfortunate accident. Charged with reckless conduct in the shooting incident of an individual, the Georgia sheriff maintains that he is still committed to continuing his duties as a member of law enforcement. He has currently not been removed from office as he is only accused of committing a misdemeanor. However, should his criminal charges be updated to a felony, he would likely be suspended from his job.

Criminal charges may be filed against grieving father

A grieving father is behind bars after authorities arrested him for interfering with government property. The Georgia father stated that he was simply taking action to prevent further tragedy from striking the local community after the devastating death of his daughter and her boyfriend. At this time, it is unclear if any criminal charges will be formally filed.

Former marine back in the headlines for criminal charges

A former marine with the U.S. Marine Corp recently made his way back into headlines following a traffic stop in Georgia. He was in the news back in 2014 following an arrest outside of the United States. It currently does not appear that his more recent criminal charges are in anyway related to his prior arrest, although some have rumored that there may have been more that went on than authorities initially disclosed.

Georgia police officer avoids criminal charges for fatal incident

Simply being arrested on the suspicion of having committing a crime does not necessarily mean that a person will end up facing criminal charges. Although an individual may be accused of committing a crime, unless he or she is actually indicted on those charges there will be no legal action. A Georgia police officer was recently cleared following a grand jury's decision to not indict him on criminal charges.

No criminal charges for driver enjoying cheeseburger

There is likely little denying that today's world runs at a faster pace than it did in previous years. Many people in Georgia have to find new and innovative ways to multitask in order to make the most use of their time. However, an out-of-state man was recently slapped with criminal charges for engaging in a behavior that may not be so uncommon while on the road.

Georgia men indicted on criminal charges believed to be in a gang

Two men were arrested following a shooting incident at a Georgia apartment complex, although it's unclear whether the driver of the vehicle was also arrested. Believed to be members of a gang, they were recently indicted on criminal charges. If convicted, both men could face steep consequences.

Federal authorities arrest debt collectors on criminal charges

Americans are taking on more and more debt, and consumers in Georgia are no exception. With a 2.1 percent increase in household debt in the latter part of 2013, it may not come as a surprise to learn that some of these Americans struggled with making payments on some of their debt. When a company is unable to collect on a debt, it sometimes sells it off to a debt collection agency, who then seeks to collect on it. While this is not an uncommon activity, some debt collectors in Georgia are now facing federal criminal charges.

Researchers may face criminal charges for alleged grant misuse

About a year ago, Georgia Tech launched an investigation after suspicions arose about where certain grant money was actually going. Although no criminal charges have been filed yet, some expect that the local district attorney will be filing some soon. Additionally, those involved could also potentially face federal charges.

Georgia officers face criminal charges for alleged unlawful stops

With the frenzy of alleged unruly or disorderly police that has recently appeared to take over the news, some people may feel an unfair bias against officers who are simply working to protect the public. In Georgia, local officers have been indicted on criminal charges for violating the civil rights of Hispanic individuals. If convicted, they could face lengthy prison time.
