“Hired Matt Hirsch at a distance to take on a traffic case with a missed mandatory court appearance (or two). Even as the case dragged on longer than anticipated (not the fault in any way of the lawyer), and indeed went a couple rounds, Mr. Hirsch remained engaged, positive, and proactive. I firmly believe he and his firm resolved my case with the best outcome for me. Would recommend Cohen & Hirsch for cases of my type without reservation, and his working for me at a fairly great distance, without my ever appearing back in state, deserves particular note”

“Matt was great. The day I called him he jumped right in and a week later charges were dropped! He’s my guy here on out. Not to mention he saved me 3k from the first firm I called.”

“Matt was a great treasure! Always kept calm and let me be the same. Looking at his fb feed, I was convinced he’s the right person for me. Helped get through a difficult situation. His fees were also comparable to the others given the amount of personal attention he paid to the case. Never had the trouble of dealing with the paralegals(as we all know what happens). He was always available on text. Great experience!!”

Criminal charges possible after incident at Georgia high school

On Behalf of | Feb 8, 2018 | Criminal Defense |

Because of recent events involving shootings at schools across the country, many school administrators in Georgia are vigilant about the potential for gun violence. While this concern is understandable, it could leave those people facing a complicated situation if they carried a gun on campus by accident. Unfortunately, a man may face criminal charges after he was accused of doing just that.

The incident happened on a day in late January at a Georgia high school. According to reports, a male who is not enrolled at the school entered with a gun. It is unclear whether the person had the appropriate licenses to carry the gun or why he entered the school with it, but the school was placed in lockdown as a result.

However, reports indicate that there was no “ill intent” in the action. Despite this, state law prohibits guns on school campuses, even if the carrier has proper licenses. Initial reports indicate that the man was a parent; however, a spokesperson for the school denies that account. Both the man and a male student were taken into custody.

Unfortunately, the criminal justice system can be overwhelming. Regardless of the criminal charges, a person taken into custody in Georgia may be unsure about his or her rights and the implications of any information supplied to police officers. However, an experienced defense attorney can help those suspected or accused of a crime fully understand their options. Such a professional can help protect clients from unlawful treatment and take appropriate action if such treatment occurs.
